The one with some photo's from Amsterdam

Last week I posted about a trip to the Olympus Playground. Mandy and me travelled from Nijmegen by train and walked our way through Amsterdam. On our walk we came across some things I thought were worth photographing. So if you're in the mood for a little city-tour, here you have it.

On my next visit to Amsterdam, I want one of these!

Shoes that neither fit my budget, or my feet.

Yup, Amsterdam has some pretty awesome doors!

The one at Olympus Playground

A couple of weeks ago my friend Mandy sent me a text message: if I had plans for the weekend. She'd won a day of photography at the Olympus Photography Playground with workshops and lunch on saturday. My mom was so kind to cover for me at work, so I could join her. The Playground let's you 'discover space and art trough the lens of the camera'. We both got an Olympus EM-10 for the day and got to take home the card that was in it. We each snapped loads and loads of photo's. Although I didn't post them all, be warned, this post is picture heavy. I'll start of with my favourite part of the day, in case I'll loose you somewhere along the way....

The graffiti like light art was by far my fave. All I needed to do, was to stand still, while Mandy did all of the work. Sounds perfect doesn't it? Not totally true, I did the doodling for her picture. I can try to explain how it works, but I'm sure Wikipedia does a much better job than I can possibly do.

The camera's all lined up at the beginning of the day, and looking at some photo's

 Having fun with foam-thingies

Who doesn't like a good sword fight? And just for the record: Mandy is wearing a wig. Not very clear in the photo, but the black thing is a wooden horse. And for the fight you got to use all sorts of props, like knives, swords (both made of wood), masks, capes and that big curly wig.

The building used to house a bank, and had some awesome details. I wish I could've taken this gorgeous floor along with me. I love a good looking tiled floor! If I'm not mistaken, the building is actually a national heritage site nowadays. I would've liked to have a peak at the rest of the building, but we weren't allowed to.

Don't you think this is an awesome van? Safety and comfort might
be a bit so and so, but I love how this guy looks!

The one with the strawberry popsicles

I bumped into some super cute pink popsicles molds last week. Immediately childhood memories of warm summer nights, playing in the streets, enjoying sweet cold treats came to mind. I needed to get them, and made some popsicles the same evening. As a kid, we filled the molds with sweeter than sweet lemonade. These are a more adult-y and healthier version.

What you'll need:

  • popsicles molds (mine makes 6 popsicles, but the mixture could make about 10)
  • 400 grams of strawberries
  • a big cup of greek yoghurt
  • 5 big tablespoons of honey, or to taste

Wash the strawberries and remove the leafy tops

Puree the strawberries in your blender, and add the yoghurt and honey. Taste and add more honey if you don't think it's sweet enough. The strawberries I bought were pretty sweet, so five teaspoons of honey was enough for me.

Fill the molds with the mixture

I left them in the freezer over night

Enjoy!

I got these molds at Dutch store HEMA. They're € 1,50 and easy to use. After taking them out of the fridge, the popsicles were pretty easy to remove from the molds.

Do you like making your own popsicles? I've got one of them left, so I am in need of some ideas for making a new batch. What's your favourite recipe? Any flavour combinations I should try?
